Safety Protocols due to COVID-19

It is our top priority that we keep patients, staff and the community safe during this time and that we follow the guidelines set out by the Public Health Officer, the BC Centre for Disease Control, the College of Chiropractors of BC, and WorkSafeBC. Please read the following protocols for re-opening the practice follow these government guidelines.

Patient Protocols:

  • If you schedule by phone you will be asked several questions related to the BC COVID-19 symptom self-assessment tool. This can be found online at

  • Online booking will be available on May 19th with some restrictions. You may be contacted in advance and the same questions above apply.

  • New Patient/Initial Assessments will only be available by phone scheduling and will have to be scheduled for a phone interview with the chiropractor prior to the rest of the assessment in the clinic.

  • Once you arrive at the clinic, the front-end and/or chiropractic doctor will screen each patient with the BC COVID-19 assessment questionnaire.

  • Please arrive 5 minutes early to the appointment to avoid crowding.

  • Please do not come in with unnecessary company to avoid crowding.

  • Allow 6-ft / 2-metres of distance between yourself and others. Some may be asked to wait outside until there is room in the clinic.

  • Hand sanitizer is available at the front desk prior to appointments.

  • Please arrive with a face mask (surgical, cloth, or covering) at your appointment. We do have re-usable cloth masks available but there is a limited supply.

  • Public washroom access will be limited. Please try to ensure that you will not need the facilities prior to or during your visit.

  • Please stand behind the front desk barrier when interacting with the front-end.

Clinic Protocols:

  •  We pride ourselves on our cleanliness and hygiene at Shikaze Chiropractic. We thoroughly clean our treatment rooms after each patient visit and commonly used surfaces in the clinic.

  • Chiropractic tables, cushions, bolsters, external adjusting and massage instruments, and iPads are disinfected after each patient visit.

  • We use towels instead of face paper during this current time to make sure the head piece on our chiropractic tables are clean at every visit.

  • Female patients have the option of wearing treatment gowns and we use covers over the chest pieces of the chiropractor tables for male patients. Female patients who opt out of wearing a gown will have a chest piece cover placed on the table.

  • All gowns, covers and re-useable cloth masks are laundered in the clinic.

  • Patients will be screened with the BC COVID-19 self assessment tool. We are waiting for our contactless thermometer for further screening measures but we believe that the self assessment tool is a adequate way of screening our patients.

  • We have implemented the use of HEPA filters in the clinic to maintain clean air quality.

  • Patients are required to wear face masks during their visit. If a patient cannot acquire a mask, we have cloth masks made up that patients can use with the option of a disposable mask for a fee.

  • Thorough hand washing procedures are implemented in the clinic.

  • The chiropractic doctor wears a medical grade mask and face shield during each patient encounter.

  • The front desk has a acrylic barrier used to protect our patients and the staff.

  • We advise our patient to pay by card with the option of tap since this is a more hygienic form of payment.

  • Hand sanitizer is available at the front and should be used prior to your visit.
